Showing Our Appreciation for HSN Customers—and Team Members
April was HSN’s Customer Appreciation Month—and HSN Cares wanted to do something special to show just how much we love our customers.
That’s why HSN Cares called on our customers to nominate the charities they care about for a chance to win $1,000. And boy, did our customers answer the call! They sent in hundreds of nominations for charities they support in the communities where they live.
For the 4th year in a row, HSN Cares donated $1,000 every day in April to charities nominated by our customers. Since 2015, HSN Cares has donated over $120,000 to charities our customers are passionate about during HSN’s Customer Appreciation Month.
Charities like Project Hope, nominated by Tamarie Carmack. “When I started volunteering for Project Hope, I didn’t realize it would become a pivotal moment in my life. The moment I met these lovely people who were experiencing homelessness, I realized that a family illness or a job loss could place me or any one of my loved ones in the exact situation they were working through.”
Supporting these causes not only helped HSN connect with customers like Tam
arie, it is also provided other ways for HSN Cares to fulfill its mission to empower women and help families in need.
The program was such a success, we also extended a similar opportunity to HSN team members. The HSN Cares $5,000 a Week Team Member Giveaway gave HSN team members a chance to nominate the charities near and dear to their hearts for a chance to win a $5,000 donation. We got some great feedback from our team with nearly a hundred nominations.
Kristin Egan, an office manager with HSN’s Ingenious Design brands nominated Mommy’s Angels, an adoption support organization. “The simple answer of why I’m so passionate about Mommy’s Angels is my daughter. I would not have become a mother if I did not pursue adoption. This group not only gave me emotional support during my adoption process but as my daughter gets older, she gets to be involved with other children who were adopted and sees first hand that adoption is just another way a family can be formed.” HSN Cares is incredibly proud of our support for the organizations that mean so much to people like Kristin.
Thank you to everyone who nominated their charities. We wish we could support them all but ultimately, the following four charities were selected to receive $5,000 donations:
- Mommy’s Angels Adoption Support Group, nominated by Kristin Egan.
- Community Food Pantry, nominated by Madlene Nemri, is a resource for needy residents that is expected to provide over 600,000 meals this year alone. Community Food Pantry clients do their own shopping in the two rooms where canned goods, frozen meats, refrigerated dairy products, personal care items, fresh vegetables, bakery goods and more are available. The pantry is in partnership with the food distribution nonprofit Feeding Tampa Bay and volunteers pick up from two Publix stores, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Target in the Carrollwood area.
- Pet Pal, nominated by Kirsten Burris, Hailey Yonker, and Georgina Brown, is an animal shelter dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from shelters that may otherwise be euthanized due to time limitations, illness, injuries or lack of socialization and training. Pet Pal finds permanent homes for pets and educates the public about the importance of spaying and neutering pets and responsible pet ownership.
- Brain Expansions Scholastic Training, nominated by Marlo Smith, is a youth training and guidance program that helps disadvantaged and at risk youth to focus on careers in the medical profession. The BEST Program has taken students with disadvantaged backgrounds and given them hope, guidance and ultimately careers in the healthcare field consistently serving the Tampa Bay community.
A big thanks to everyone who got involved and sent in a nomination. Empowering families and supporting our communities is at the heart of everything we do at HSN. In April, and every month, we appreciate the support of our dedicated customers and team members.
