HSN, Inc. CEO Mindy Grossman to Present Keys at Habitat Pinellas Home Dedication

CLEARWATER, FL June 14, 2013 — As a sponsor of the Piparo family home, HSNi will participate in the dedication ceremony for Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County’s 273rd home on Thursday, June 20th at 9:30 a.m. in Pinellas Park. HSN, Inc. CEO, Mindy Grossman, and several HSN executives will present Katrina Piparo and her two young daughters the key to their new home, located at 6990 81st Avenue North in Pinellas Park.

Several city officials will participate in the dedication ceremony including City of Pinellas Park Assistant City Manager Doug Lewis, Councilman Rick Butler and Councilwoman Patty Johnson. Jon Farris, president of the Pinellas Park Chamber of Commerce, will also participate. A flag flown over the U.S. Capitol will be presented to the Piparo family by Shirley Miaoulis, district representative for the office of Congressman C.W. Bill Young.

“HSN Cares is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity on our third home in Pinellas County,” said Mindy Grossman, Chief Executive Officer, HSNi. “Our executive team and our employees have spent more than 500 hours helping the Piparo family realize their dream of owning a home.”

The company met the Piparo family in 2012 during their 2nd home sponsorship for Shannon Keegan and her family. The Keegan and Piparo families had been living together and originally came to Habitat to build a house together. Through Habitat and HSN, they were each able to have their own home. This is the third Habitat Pinellas home that HSN has sponsored within the past three years. HSN employees have volunteered almost 2,000 hours for the Habitat for Humanity organization.

JPMorgan Chase is the land sponsor for the Piparo family home, and has been instrumental in helping Habitat Pinellas acquire land for other Habitat homes throughout the county.

Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County, an affiliate office of Habitat for Humanity International, works in partnership with corporate sponsors like HSNi and community volunteers to provide qualified low-income families with decent, affordable homeownership opportunities. Habitat Pinellas serves struggling families in the cities of Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, and Ozona.

More about Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County
Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas Countyhas constructed 273 homes for struggling families in Pinellas County, using locally raised funds. Volunteers and the future homeowners construct the homes, which are sold at no profit and financed with a zero-interest loan. Habitat Pinellas homeowner candidates earn 30 to 80 percent of area median income. For Pinellas County, that translates to as little as $22,500 a year for a family of four. Candidates must also demonstrate need for adequate shelter; ability to pay back a zero-interest loan and willingness to partner with Habitat Pinellas to invest 250 to 350 sweat equity hours. Mortgage monies are used to build even more homes, making each donation to Habitat a perpetual legacy to the community. Habitat believes that home ownership contributes to family stability, leading in turn to community stability. Additionally, Habitat Pinellas raises funds through their ReStore, a home improvement outlet where donated household and building items are sold to the public.
