“The music world is changing and I didn’t want to release this special work the normal way,” states Taylor. “When Hear Music approached me about working with HSN, I thought ‘what a fantastic new way to directly reach millions of music lovers.'”
Part of an ongoing relationship between HSN and Hear Music, the record label formed between Starbucks Entertainment and Concord Music Group, the One Man Band CD/DVD set ($18.90) will be available for HSN customers starting November 9 and is scheduled to begin arriving at customers’ doorsteps the day of the national release November 13. Recorded during Taylor’s recent concerts at the historic Colonial Theatre in his hometown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the set list includes new interpretations of 19 of the balladeer’s most memorable recordings including “Fire and Rain,” “You’ve got a Friend,” and “Carolina in my Mind,” along with Taylor’s often humorous anecdotes about the songs.
“James Taylor’s music and endearing personality transcend generations of loyal fans and we have no doubt that includes HSN’s broad range of customers,” says Andy Sheldon, Senior Vice President of Television for HSN. “Following the successful launch of Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full on the network in May, HSN is excited to once again be partnering with Hear Music to create a compelling and unique broadcast event for our millions of viewers.”
