Coby Electronics Launches the COBY KYROS™ 7" Touchscreen Tablet

Today and tomorrow, October 22 and 23, Coby will launch its debut Internet Tablet, the all-new COBY® KYROS™ MID7005, exclusively through multichannel retailer HSN, a leader in innovation. COBY KYROS MID products will then be available at retail nationwide in time for the 2010 holiday season.
The eye-catching and sleek COBY KYROS Tablet features a generous 7″ screen with intuitive touchscreen controls powered by the Android™ 2.1 operating system – with a suggested retail price of $299.99. The unit has 4GB of internal memory and features an SD card slot for upgrading the capacity to up to 32GB.

The COBY KYROS Tablet allows users to wirelessly access the Internet through hi-speed networking support and includes more than a dozen built-in applications, each one identified by an icon. Among the included apps are an alarm clock, browser for surfing the web, calculator, calendar, email, gallery for viewing and playing videos, music and video player for launching the mobile YouTube™ browser page to watch Internet videos and more! In addition, the COBY KYROS Tablet offers two unique apps, one for downloading and reading thousands of e-books and another to browse, download and install apps.
The first app enables users to download and read a wide assortment of books, from free classics to original new releases, from such built-in book catalogs as Feedbooks.com (thousands of free public domain works and original books from new authors), O’Reilly Ebooks (paid books for tech professionals and everyday users), Smashwords (free and paid books from independent authors and publishers) and All Romance™ eBooks (free and paid romance books). Bookmark and search functions let consumers customize the font, size and spacing of the book’s text.
Through the second app, consumers can download free and paid apps to play games, check the weather, listen to the radio and more. Among the available app categories are games, multimedia, sports, social, productivity, health and finance. A range of themes are available to assist users in customizing the look of their brand-new COBY KYROS Tablet.
Technical features of the COBY KYROS Tablet include an ARM1176™ processor that operates at 800MHz and offers 256MP DDR2 of RAM. The 7.0-inch TFT LCD screen offers 800×480 resolution and includes HDMI video output that supports 1080p and 720p, a 3.5mm headphone and built-in speaker, and a USB 2.0 hi-speed PC interface as well as a rechargeable Li-poly battery and power adapter. The COBY KYROS Tablet comes packaged with a protective case, stylus, USB adapter and professional stereo earphones.
